We have carried out many surveys for new home purchasers who neglected to have a drainage survey carried out – only to find out that the drains were in a bad state of repair, that they had inherited major problems and that they would not be covered by their new buildings insurance policy.
They had been lulled into a false sense of security in that they had a full structural survey……this does not tell the condition of the drainage system, as a surveyor can only lift inspection covers for a visual inspection.

Here are two types of survey available for you:
(1) ‘Look-see’ survey. We will carry out a black and white survey of the foul drainage system and provide you with a basic written report on the condition of the drainage system
(2) ‘Full survey’. This comprises of a full colour survey recorded to DVD with an approximate plan of the layout of the foul water drainage system, and a full written report together with any recommendations for repairs
Should there be any insurable peril found – i.e. tree root ingress, broken pipe work, it would be wise for the vendor to make a claim prior to the sale of the property.
