Soakaways

Soak Away’s come in various shapes and sizes. The most common soak away is the ‘herringbone’ Soak Away. Generally the soak away consists of a network of perforated drainage pipes and is connected in a circuit. This allows the effluent from the septic tank to slowly seep away into the ground over time. Also they are a lot more reliable because they have many branches or veins interwoven into their design, if any or one of the pipes should become blocked over time then the rest of the soak away will still continue to function.

The soak away is normally attached to the outlet pipe of your septic tank. The soak away is a very important part of a septic tank system, as without the soak away the effluent will have nowhere to drain.A common sign of soak away problems would be wet patches and pools of foul smelling liquid appearing in your garden or a blocked drain line leading into the septic tank. We can repair these problems.Seen on the left are Drainage Fields this is the modern way of effectively forming a Soak Away for a Septic tank or a Treatment plant. Installed like this the Drainage field will give years of problem free drainage, and complies with all regulations. This is subject to ground conditions, water table levels, and site survey including trial excavations/ porosity tests
